For early tourers, snowshoe hikers and hut sitters who get up early in the morning, every weekend (always Saturday + Sunday) and on bank holidays until Easter Monday, 01.04.2024, there will be the popular early cable car ride at 7:30 am in the morning.

Early tourers rides:

  • Date: until 01.04.2024, always on Saturday + Sunday & Easter Monday

  • Time: early cable car ride at 7:30 am (only ascent)

Operation: cable cars & lift facilities

  • First cable car ascent from 8:30 am (section 1)

  • Ski lift operation: from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Dachstein Krippenstein peak will be waiting for you early in the morning, with the best sunrises in the Alps! 

PLEASE NOTE! The valley run from station Gjaid is closed due to mild temperatures and snow-free spots in the lower area that means no longer prepared, marked and secured! The descent is at your own risk in the “open terrain / off piste”!

The Krippenstein is the ideal starting point for numerous tours into the Dachstein massif: whether from the Krippenstein the classic crossing route over the "Rumpler" to the Dachstein glacier with the 21 km-long descent to Obertraun or a half-day tour to the Zwölferkogel or Heilbronner cross

Equipment

Must have equipment off piste

Good equipment (avalanche transceiver, helmet, rucksack with snow shovel, avalanche probe and First aid kit) is an absolute "must have" in the terrain! Ski rental Dachstein sport Janu ready-stocked rucksack, skins, etc. can be conveniently borrowed!
