A unique NATURAL SPECTACLE in the majestic high mountains at Dachstein Krippenstein: Guided hike by Martha!
From the mountain station at the Krippenstein you descend steeply in the karst terrain to the lake Däumel, the only "real" lake on the karst plateau. Then you cross the heavily karstiied area and head directly towards the Däumelkogel, which guards the northern edge of the plateau like a gatekeeper.
You follow the climbing tracks up to a rock belt, which you overcome in a short climb until you reach the inviting summit with cross and beautiful view a few minutes later. Back on the plateau, the path leads us through the karst landscape with its many shapes, where you encounter caves, dolines, karst alleys and primeval pastures. Numerous protected alpine plants delight our eyes. With a little luck chamois cross our way.
At the Heilbronner Cross you enjoy the view of the surrounding peaks and our snack. The place reminds us of the tragic accident in 1954, when a group of students with their three teachers got lost and froze to death in a snowstorm on the Dachstein plateau. A leisurely walk back to the starting point.
