Via Ferrata Outlaw

Via Ferrata: steep & scenic

The Outlaw is a short but challenging via ferrata on the Niederen Krippenstein in the Dachstein Krippenstein climbing arena and offers fantastic panoramic views in addition to climbing on steep rock faces.

Whether as a tough challenge for experienced climbers or as a change of pace after a longer tour, the Outlaw guarantees pure adrenaline and that mountain feeling. Thanks to its location directly on the plateau, it offers unique views of the Dachstein, Lake Hallstatt and the surrounding peaks.

Climbing route

Via Ferrata Outlaw

Short steep climb at the start (B/C), then traverse a rock ramp (B) to an exposed corner (B). Zigzag (A/B) to a rock face, which is overcome using pins (C).

Now easier in karst terrain (A) to an airy traverse with pins (B/C), then in rugged terrain to a vertical, slightly overhanging steep wall secured with pins (C/D).

This is followed by an exposed traverse diagonally upwards (C) to easier karst terrain (B). One last, very short steep step remains to be overcome (C) before the trail gently ends at the summit of the Kleiner Krippenstein (first B, then A).

Climbing tip!

The Via Ferrata Kuckucksnest combined with the Outlaw via ferrata is a fantastic climbing experience.

Tip: Climb the Outlaw via ferrata (Niederen Krippenstein) first, then tackle the Kuckucksnest via ferrata on your ascent to the Hoher Krippenstein (mountain station).
