Arrival to Obertraun

Whether relaxed by public transport bus and train or by private car, here you will find the information on how to get to Obertraun / to the valley station of the Dachstein Krippenstein cable cars in the UNESCO World Heritage region.

Tip: Do you have luggage or bags to stow away? No problem, you can store your hiking and skiing equipment in the lockers next to the valley station.

Arrival by bus

By OÖVV bus line No. 542 + 543 you travel comfortable from Bad Ischl, Hallstatt, Gosau to Obertraun / valley station of the Dachstein Krippenstein cable cars.

The bus stop "Obertraun Dachsteinseilbahn" is located in front of the entrance area of the valley station of the Dachstein Krippenstein cable cars (see picture 2 - valley station). 

TIP

Free ski bus

With the free ski bus you can get from Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Hallstatt, Obertraun or Gosau with bus lines 542/543 to Dachstein Krippenstein.

Free transportation with winter sports equipment.

Arrival by train

By train you will travel comfortably to Obertraun - Dachstein Krippenstein in the Salzkammergut.

Train stop "Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof" + continue by bus line no 542 to:

  • cable cars, lifts, pistes

  • 5fingers, Dachstein shark, etc.

Coming from the east

The fastest way in the region Dachstein Krippenstein in the UNESCO World Heritage region Salzkammergut via Westautobahn A1 (Wien-Salzburg), exit "Regau" and continue via Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Hallstatt to Obertraun.

  • Travel time from Gmunden approx. 1 hour and 20 minutes

Coming from the north / west

The B158 along the Fuschlsee and Wolfgangsee to Bad Ischl. Then continue on the B145 towards Bad Ischl and Hallstatt to Obertraun.

  • Travel time from Salzburg approx. 1 hour 25 minutes

Coming from the south

Tauernautobahn A10 (from the direction of Graz, Carinthia, Italy, Slovenia), to the “Eben” exit and continue B166 via Russbach and Hallstatt to Obertraun.

  • Travel time from Eben approx. 1 hour
